Daniel M. Anthony
Daniel Anthony's practice entails working with clients to define and execute effective strategies for establishing the highest level of protection possible for their intellectualproperty and technology rights. With a primary focus in litigation, Mr. Anthony also has significant experience with trade-mark opposition and domain name arbitrationproceedings.
In his litigation practice, Mr. Anthony assists clients in a wide range of industries withnavigating all aspects of a dispute from the initial complaint through to settlement orjudgment. He has represented clients before the Canadian Federal Court and the OntarioSuperior Court, and he has participated in cases argued before the Canadian FederalCourt of Appeal. Mr. Anthony also has experience in Internet law and in the prosecution and enforcementof trade-marks and copyrights online, including domain names disputes and arbitration.

Trade-mark Opposition
University of British ColumbiaB.Sc. (Cell Biology and Parmalat Canada Inc v Sysco Corp, — Successful appeal before the Federal Court of a Trade-mark Opposition Board's decision to deny an amendment that wouldadd a novel ground of opposition. This case established that depreciation of goodwill is a possible ground of opposition on the basis that the applicant could not have been satisfied that it was entitled to use the mark.
Domain Name Proceedings
Canada Post Corporation v Alain Lambert, WIPO Case Number D2008-1902 — Successfully obtained a transfer to Canada Post of five "postecanada" domain names in a defended Uniform Dispute Resolution Proceeding (UDRP) where the registrant was foundto have been engaged in typosquatting.

seizure of counterfeit goods and hundreds of thousands of dollars from bank accounts.
Solicitor-client costs were awarded payable forthwith from monies seized.
