Abstract:
Washim district in Maharashtra is relatively newly formed district. The district is located in the Vidarbha region of Maharashtra, India. The entire district occupies an area of about 5150 sq. kilometers. The geographical coordinates of Washim district are 76o7| East longitude and 19o61| North latitude.
Remote villages in Washim district are dominated by Korku, Gond, Banjara, Takonkar, Andh, Mathuralabhan tribes etc. These communities mostly occupy remote areas of villages conserving their own traditional culture and conventions from time immemorial. They adopt the life styles maintaining harmony with nature.
The preset paper enumerates some of the ethno-medicinal plants used by the tribal of the region to treat various respiratory diseases.
