As part of our ongoing commitment to comply with environmental legislation and also our contractual obligations with our customers, Volex Group plc and its subsidiary companies (known collectively as “Volex”) is seeking to ensure that all its suppliers comply with the need to eliminate all Banned and Controlled substances in products supplied to Volex. As a minimum suppliers must conform to the ‘EU RoHS List of Banned and Controlled Substances’. The ‘EU RoHS List of Banned and Controlled Substances’ requires that all homogenous materials supplied, either as part of the make up of any component delivered or as a single material, should individually meet the following tolerances:
1. max. 0.1% in weight of Lead (Pb) 2. max. 0.1% in weight of Mercury (Hg) 3. max. 0.01% in weight of Cadmium (Cd) 4. max. 0.1% in weight of Hexavalent Chromium (Cr (VI)) 5. max. 0.1% in weight of PBDE (polybrominated diphenyl ethers) 6. max. 0.1% in weight of PBB (polybrominated biphenyls)
While emphasis is placed upon the ‘EU RoHS List of Banned and Controlled Substances’, compliance will eventually be required against all materials in the ‘Volex List Of Banned Substances’ listed below. Your Volex representative will be able to provide further detailed information regarding the specific levels and tolerances to be controlled for each item listed.

Accordingly, we are requesting that all our suppliers sign and return the attached Declaration and also the Supplier Data Sheet for the ‘EU RoHS List of Banned and Controlled Substances’ along with any other materials contained in the ‘Volex List Of Banned Substances’ for which you can provide a statement of compliance. In doing so, you hereby acknowledge and accept that Volex will place total reliance on the representations made in the declaration when entering into contractual relationships with its customers. Alternatively, if you have developed a standard response to requests of this kind then we may be prepared to accept this, provided that the document as a minimum is;
• dated; • addressed to Volex Group plc and its subsidiary companies/affiliates; • made on behalf of your company and its subsidiaries and affiliates; • signed by a Director, the General Manager or Plant Manager or someone of similar seniority;
• states clearly that all products, components and packaging supplied to Volex, FULLY
