Participants wil navigate the area around Beechworth and environs in smal teams (min 2, max 5 members per team) seeking checkpoints on a pre marked Map. Check points wil take them to unusual, historic, scenic or chal enging spots of the immediate area. Beginners and family groups are certainly welcome and wil be catered for as wel as experienced and seasoned rogainers . Finishers wil enjoy refreshments during and after the event at Baarmutha Park. Weekend celebrates the railway history of Beechworth and North East Victoria. Beechworth Model Railway is on permanent Telegraph Station. Visitors wil be able to send telegrams just as in the “Railway Age” courtesy of The Beechworth Morsecodians. Across the road there wil be a major model railway display in The Beechworth Memorial layouts in different scales. Retail traders wil be selling model railways and walking tours each day wil explore the old Beechworth railway station area and yard. A small admisssion fee applies. Chiltern gets a little serious for riders day it is home to exquisite flora and fauna, by night it is a mysterious place where ghosts from the past lurk. This 23 kilometre ride starts on dusk and ends in the dark. In between riders wil see the Chiltern – Mount Pilot National Park as very few people see it – from the seat of a bike with just your lamp to connect you to check points. Each car wil receive an Indigo Passport upon entering the Information Centre stamp (visa) from places such as Chiltern, Rutherglen, weighted points al ocations. Drivers returning to Chiltern within the allocated time-frame wil have their passports reviewed, points awarded for each 'visa' and totalled for a grand prize.
