DATE: Friday, October 15th, 2010 7:30 p.m. Polish National Alliance Dr. Danuta Stadnicka Mobile Workforce Management System at Exelon Abstract During the last 3 years, Exelon has worked to deliver a new Mobile Workforce Management System that provides real-time crew management, electronic assignment, and field work status information. The system combines wireless, GPS, and electronic mapping technologies with commercially available mobile workforce management software. It is integrated with ComEd’s Outage Management, Customer Information and Management, and Work Scheduling Systems, along with the back office to provide real-time field work updates. The Mobile Workforce Management System was delivered to over 4300 employees, who support the operation of 12 departments across ComEd and PECO, both Exelon units. Speaker’s Bio Danuta Stadnicki is a Lead Analyst with ComEd, a unit of Exelon Corporation. She is responsible for ComEd Information Technology’s cyber security compliance with the NERC Critical Infrastructure Protection standards. During her 12 years with ComEd, Danuta’s responsibilities have included support for the Energy Management, and SCADA systems, support for Mobility applications, and delivery of large projects such as the SCADA System replacement and deployment of the Mobile Workforce Management System. Prior to joining ComEd, Danuta held the position of Power System Engineer at CEGELEC ESCA Corporation in Bellevue, WA (currently Alstom Grid), a vendor providing Energy Management and SCADA solutions for electric utilities. Danuta’s responsibilities included developing Energy Management System applications and delivering large projects to electric utilities. Danuta Stadnicki holds a Master’s Degree in Engineering from the Academy of Mining and Metallurgy in Krakow, Poland, and Master’s of Science and Ph.D. degrees in Electrical
Engineering from Northwestern University in Evanston. She is a certified Project Management Professional (PMP) from the Project Management Institute.
Nominating Committee (Ela Berak, Joanna Jacobs, Joe Bozek and Danuta Szymulanski) announced results of the bi-annual elections during the September 17th meeting. We want to thank nominating committee for their diligent effort to identify candidates. New administration is presented below:
New administration will assume their duties during October 15th meeting. We would like to thank Mr. Walter Rymsza, Dr. Jan Plachta and Mr. Jacek Zaworski for their many years of service as members of the administration of PAEA. Their contributions strengthened our organization. According to the by-laws of the Board of Directors all three are eligible to become members of the Board.
As we announced last month five individuals were selected as the recipients of the Ralph Modjeski scholarship in the amount of $600 for each student. Their names, school affiliation and final PEAE evaluation score are shown below: 1. Patryk Mastela, Electrical Engineering and Computer Science, University of Michigan, Ann 2. Gretchen E. Heberling, Architectural Engineering, University of Wyoming - 84 points; 3. Alisha Gryniewicz, Industrial and Enterprise System Engineering, University of Illinois at 4. Christopher Ploch, Engineering, Hope College (admitted to Stanford for his senior year) - 5. Silvia Sutkowski, Civil and Environmental Engineering, Pennsylvania State University - 74 The 70th anniversary celebration in London was a historical Conference, discussing the first days of the Institute of Polish Engineers in Great Britain and dedicated to the memory of Mr. Richard Kaczorowski, former President of Poland in exile who died in the Smolensk plane crash on 10 April 2010. President Kaczorowski was an honorary member of the Institute of Polish Engineers in Great Britain. On the eve of the Conference, attendees went to site of the 2012 Olympic Village where some of the members of the organization are occupying key management positions. In
attendance were few engineers that were contributing to the World War II effort in the Battle of Britain. After the war the Institute members were involved in the engineering and construction efforts of the Polish Social and Cultural Center in London. In the name of PAEA, Dr. Jan Plachta presented Prof. Chmielowiec, the president of the Institute of Polish Engineers in Great Britain, an engraved congratulatory plaque.
World Convention of Polish Engineers was held at the Technical University of Warsaw (Politechnika Warszawska) on 8-10 September 2010. There were about 300 polish engineers in attendance from all over the world. There were numerous expertise sessions and discussions on various areas of engineering. Discussed were ways to improve technical education system in Poland, how to make it more efficient and bring it to the level of leading industrial nations. Conference was very well organized with w relatively large group of Polish engineers from United States and Canada. At the conclusion of first day of deliberations attendees were honored with an exceptional elegant and entertaining gala in the newly renovated main hall of Politechnika Warszawska. Next day a similar reception was prepared for attendees in the palace on ulica Czackiego 3/5, the Headquarter of NOT (Naczelna Organizacja Techniczna). Conference ended with a recommendation to establish a World Forum of Polish Engineers that will periodically meet to discuss recent developments and provide guidelines for future actions. PAEA was represented by Dr. Jan Plachta, Janusz Kulczuga and Leszek Kocjan.
