January 2012- Parent-Child Interaction Therapy for Treating Oppositional Preschoolers with Callous- January 2013 Unemotional Traits USF College of Behavioral and Community Sciences Internal Grant Awards Program, Role: Principal Investigator (1 year, $7500) This grant provides funding to support the development of an adapted parent training intervention for treating callous-unemotional conduct problems in young children. This study will also test the feasibility and acceptability of the intervention with families of young children with callous-unemotional conduct problems in an open trial pilot study. University of South Florida Research Council ($2249) Parent-Child Interaction Therapy for Treating Oppositional Preschoolers with Callous- USF College of Behavioral and Community Sciences Internal Grant Awards Program, This grant provided funding for the PI to complete a 5-day Therapist Training Workshop on Parent-Child Interaction Therapy in preparation for the above-described pilot study on its effectiveness for reducing conduct problems among young children with CU traits. Subtypes of Callous-Unemotional Traits in Incarcerated Youth USF Neurosciences Collaborative Grant, Role: Principal Investigator (2 years, $100,000) This research examines whether there are two trajectories to callous-unemotional (CU) traits in incarcerated youth that are underpinned by distinct emotional profiles. This study will generate basic behavioral and neuroscience findings that can be directly translated to inform the assessment and treatment of antisocial behavior in at-risk youth. The proposed cross-sectional study will test whether incarcerated delinquent youth high on CU traits, but grouped into primary and secondary types according to maltreatment history and co-occurring psychopathology, show distinct neuropsychological, psychophysiological, and neuroendocrine profiles. A Pilot Study of Subtypes of Callous-Unemotional Traits in Maltreated Youth USF New Researcher Grant, Role: Principal Investigator (1 year, $10,000) This research examines whether there are two types of callous unemotional traits in maltreated youth, each with divergent patterns of emotional processing. Computerized neurocognitive testing and measurement of stress hormone levels is completed with maltreated and control children between the ages of 6 and 10. Youth with conduct problems and CU traits show a particularly severe and persistent pattern of behavior, and preliminary research suggests that those with a trauma history may be at greatest risk for aggression. Findings can directly inform clinical assessment and therapeutic Personality and Brain Responses to Visual Stimuli (PI: Christopher Patrick) NIMH RC1 MH089727, Role: Principal Investigator (.10 FTE, subcontract, $247, 138) This research is designed to improve the methods for assessing personality disorders and impulse control problems in criminal offenders, and advance understanding of dispositional variables that contribute to the development and maintenance of criminal behavior. The research will increase our understanding of processes that underlie the most common types of problems exhibited by criminal offenders, and contribute to improved methods for assessing impulse control disorders and more effective approaches to treating and preventing disorders of this kind. Variants of Psychopathy and Physical Health: The Role of Stress Reactivity American Psychology & Law Society Interdisciplinary Grant, Role: Co-Principal Investigator ($5,000) This research examines whether primary and secondary variants of psychopathy exist in a sample of college undergraduates. This study tests whether psychopathy variants are underpinned by distinct emotional profiles, as measured by neuroendocrine responding during a social stress paradigm. Travel Fellowship
