Fungi Generic Action Plan
STATUS
Fungi are protected by two items of legislation. Un-
der The Theft Act 1968, it may be an offence to up-

mission. The Wildlife and Countryside Act 1981 (as
amended), protects four species of fungi, none of
which are found in the Durham area. Areas of land
designated as Sites of Special Scientific Interest
(SSSIs) or National Nature Reserves (NNRs) have
special protection which may restrict the collection of
fungi.
